Ward-round handover notes (sample) Build

Spoken handover in, a structured note the next shift can trust out.

Sample brief

This is an example while our first real briefs are being written. The shape is right; the specifics are illustrative.

The problem

Handover between shifts is spoken, then written down twice — once on paper and once into the hospital system, hours later. What gets lost is the detail nobody thought was important at 7am, and the cost lands on the patient.

Why now

Speech models are finally good enough on accented clinical speech, and a note that never leaves the hospital's own network is now a deployment choice rather than a research project.

The wedge

One ward, one shift change, one template. Dictate the handover, produce the structured note, let the outgoing nurse correct it in under a minute.

First customers

Teaching-hospital wards that already run a written handover ritual.

What people do today

Paper, a WhatsApp group, and remembering.

What working looks like

Two wards using it for a fortnight without being asked to, and the outgoing shift correcting fewer than one line in five.

Why Kampus wants this built

The hard part is not the model, it is being trusted inside a ward. A student team with a clinician on it can earn that faster than a company can buy it.

What we do not know

Who signs off on the note, and does the structured version become the record or stay an aid? We do not know.

Who you might need

One student who can ship a small web app, one who has sat through a hospital shift change, and one who enjoys evaluation harnesses.

On market size

Indicative only: every tertiary hospital runs dozens of shift changes a day, and none of them are currently anybody's software.
